Beach & Safari Holidays
Imagine combining the adventure of a safari holiday with a few days wind-down on a sun-drenched beach, ensconced in a luxurious 5-star hotel, say in the Indian Ocean, in Mauritius or the Seychelles, or somewhere more remote such as a coral island off the coast of Mozambique, for example. What more could you hope for from your holiday idyll?
A beach & safari holidays is the obvious choice for those in search of something different, a ‘value added’ beach holiday, at it were, with and an extra dimension.
From couples with differing views as to what constitutes the perfect holiday to family groups with varying interests and needs - a beach/safari combination holiday certainly ticks all the boxes!
Prime Beach / Safari Combo Destinations
Kenya
Kenya is a firm favorite destination for those in search of a sunshine holiday with a safari adventure thrown in for good measure. Kenya is recognized as the original home of safari with its many national parks including the famous Masai Mara (excellent opportunities to spot the ‘Big Five’ (buffaloes, elephants, leopards, lions and rhinos); and where luxury safari lodge-type accommodation is plentiful.
Then the stunning Mombasa coastline with its ivory sands and a wide choice of luxury beach side accommodation makes Kenya the perfect beach and safari holidays combination.
Tanzania
Another enticing destination for a sun / safari style holiday, Tanzania is a land of amazing scenic contrasts. Significantly, from a tourist perspective, Tanzania, although not as economically prosperous as neighboring Kenya, is nevertheless considered to be a comparatively stable country and an increasingly safe tourist destination. The Serengeti National Park, described as ‘the jewel in the crown of Tanzania's protected areas’, also boasts one of the last migratory systems still in existence, where wildebeest constitute a vital part of the Serengeti ecosystem. Less well known attractions of the Serengeti are the ‘Little Five’ (the ant lion, the rhino beetle, the elephant shrew, the buffalo weaver and the leopard tortoise).
For post-safari relaxation, the culturally intriguing Spice Island of Zanzibar, off the coast of Tanzania in the Indian Ocean, makes an exotic onward destination; swathes of milky-white, palm-fringed, coral reefs and beaches.
Southern Africa
A ‘must do’ destination for the best of both worlds: the expanses of African savannas; spectacular, natural landscapes and wide open plains teeming with an abundance of wildlife; Kruger National Park with its vast spread of game-rich bush land is a premier ‘Big Five’ safari destination.
Southern Africa also boasts some of the best beaches in the world; coveted destinations such as Namibia with its unspoilt Skeleton Coast and massive sand dunes. Other feasible sun, sea and sand destinations to combine with a South African safari include the islands off the coast of Southern and Eastern Africa, e.g. the tropical island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean or Madagascar for its coral beaches, dramatic rain forest and friendly, local inhabitants.
