Shimba rainforest Kenya hotel lodge

The Kenya south coast Mombasa lodge is located in the tropical forest of Shimba Hills. This is a Kenya National holiday beach cottages and park hotel lodge built of indigenous wood resembling a tree-tops style. The Kenyan lodge has a walkway through the rainforest. There is also a viewing platform and a bar.

This Kenya park hotel and lodge does not permit children less than 7 years. There is a floodlit waterhole that attracts a lot of elephants and other animals of Kenya including leopards.

The Shimba Hills National park hotel lodge is located off the Kinango road. Full board rates here start from $120 per person sharing. It offers a cool quiet and inland accommodation 30 minutes from the hot and humid coastal weather. The lodge comes in handy for people who want to get a mix of the coast and the interior of Kenya Mountain accommodation.

Budget Kenya coast Hotel Lodges in Mombasa

Kenya Budget holiday beach cottages and lodges and accommodation at Diani are very few and are most certainly in the form of guest houses as opposed to beach hotels. Moreover the large Kenya beach hotels are sometimes very selective and will rarely let non-residents into the hotels.

Ukunda Kenya-Corner Guest House

The only available cheap beach area accommodation is located in Ukunda Township, A small conurbation off the Kenya Diani beach, located along the main Mombasa Shimoni highway. Ukunda has mainly developed to accommodate staff working in the Kenya beach hotels. The rooms at the corner guesthouse are simple but clean.

The corner guesthouse offers single and double accommodation with shared bathrooms. The guesthouse has piped music and is the best in terms of budget accommodation in Ukunda. Rates here range from Kshs 400-500. Break fast is served at an extra Kshs 200

Diani Beach Campsite & cottages

The Kenya Diani beach campsite is the only beach cottages and budget accommodation anywhere near the beach front line. The camping space and lawns are limited and even low season prices tend to be steep. The camping lawn is provided with toilets and an eating area.

Tent hire is arranged in the camp and costs an additional Kshs 200 (Kshs 100 in low season). There are cottages that are hired out at the rates from Kshs 1500 in low season and Kshs 3,000-6,000 in high season. The cottages can comfortably accommodate from 4 people.

Mukurumuji Tented Camp

The tented camp is built on a perch above the Mukurumuji River in a forested southern boundary of the park. Walking safaris are arranged from here into the park and along the Mukurumuji River including the magnificent Sheldrick falls. Day tours from the Diani beach hotels are arranged at $20. Excursions from Diani house are arranged at USD 200 per round trip. The camp charges on full board at $94 per person sharing.
